Are you OBSESSED with kombucha as much as I am? Meaning you have a budget for it - or not, ha!
I'm so obsessed with the fizz, I took a course in fermentation and received a certification as a Fermentationist! Now I can experiment with making my own brews and fermented foods. There's only one problem I see developing very quickly, the SCOBY's (symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast, aka The Mother) are growing at such a rapid pace that I have a SCOBY farm in my pantry!
My favorite take away from the fermentation course was that fermenting food is EASY! I'll admit I was scared to make my own batch of kombucha or ferment my own jar of sauerkraut. I don't have it in my plan of life to poison myself from "aging" food. Little did I know there's nothing really scary about the art of fermenting food. Actually, you will learn a ton of valuable information when you get that intimate with food. Food is sexy my friend, not to mention it helps to support a happy gut.
My new kombucha operation brought me outside of my comfort zone of trying new flavors. I’ve received tons of inspiration from books like The Big Book of Kombucha and Fermented Foods for Health. My new favorite kombucha flavor is apple chai which is only found in my kitchen and not in a store near you :)
As a working mom I struggle with chronic stress which leads to bellyaches. Kombucha has known benefits like reducing stress, nervousness, insomnia (mommy brain), sugar cravings, and regulating appetite - it’s perfect, everything a working mom has been searching for!
One day I ran out of my #bigasssalad dressing and rushed to the pantry for vinegar to whip up a quick vinaigrette. My SCOBY’s were staring me in the face because when you let kombucha brew too long it will transform into vinegar. I knew it had been brewing for weeks and decided to throw it in my homemade vinaigrette instead of using my favorite organic vinegar Braggs.
And BOOM that day my homemade kombucha vinaigrette was born! Catch my live creation in the video above but here’s the recipe.
