"Fitting in" is Killing You

The desire to “FIT IN” is killing you.

What do I mean by this?  The desire to “FIT IN” to your community, to your organization, to your circle of friends or the neighbors down the street, just might be killing you.

Killing your dreams or killing you physically and mentally.

Now, I’m not suggesting you give up your career, family or friends (although, some of them actually may be doing you more harm than good, lol!) 

Sometimes we mold our thoughts and actions around what everyone else is doing because it is easy or we brainwash our thoughts to believe, “that’s the right path.”  

How many times have you caught yourself saying in your profession, “Where am I? How did I get here? I don’t even like what I freaking do?” or  “This is sucking the life out of me.”

How many times have you caught yourself saying about your wellness, “Every time I eat “this” I feel like shit, but I just can’t live without it.” Or “I know that diet won’t work for my lifestyle but I’m going to try it anyway because my friend got amazing results.” or “I need to drink to get through the day, the party, life :)”

Now, I’ve driven down the wrong path multiple times, sometimes for weeks and even years. I’ve taken a career that I wasn’t excited about, I continued to eat foods that my body was sensitive too, I bought programs that developed the wrong skills ….my damn list is long!  What I’ve learned is some of that may have been killing me slowly either physically or mentally.  

Living in regret will also kill you. Not trying new experiences will also kill you. 

As we know, making wrong turns and learning will only make you stronger, more wise, and the holy of all Super WoMOM’s.  

My take-away is, don’t wallow in your pile of sh*t for too long!  The longer you stay the deeper the hole. If you don’t do something about it now, you’ll start fading away, become resentful, continue to wish your life was “different”, you’ll end up depressed and start experiencing symptoms.  You’ll end up being that grouchy b*tch you never aspired to be.

  • What are some of the things I find to be less positive about ...?
  • Where would I like to be in …. in the next few years?
  • What progression goals would I like to set?
  • What action plans can I make to help me get what I want most in …..?
